On the evening of 13th of January, a wet and windy Monday, the Event Marketing Association hosted their first event of 2020. The event was hosted￼ at the wonderful Church House Conference Centre, Westminster. A stunning venue in the heart of London.
The topic being discussed was the State Of The Industry. Joining the panel to share their expertise were Alistair turn from Eight PR, Anna Fox from Liberty Global, Kim Myhre from Xdesigned and the session was moderated by Martin Fullard editor of Conference News.
Attending the event were EMA members and partners along with a small group of EVCOM members￼ as part of the closer collaboration between the 2 associations.
James Hitchen EMA general manager opened the evening thanking the venue for their exquisite hospitality and mentioning the EMA events program for 2020 which consist 30 plus events of various shapes and sizes. The discussion twisted and turned in a number of directions including what the standout trends were back in 2019 and if any of them were realised and are still relevant. 2 that stood out were sustainability and wellbeing which we discussed at some length. We also touched on event security and the potential new legislation called Martyn’s law. It is law which will look at venue security and is born out of the tragedy that occurred in 2017 at Manchester arena. The subject has been extensively covered by conference news. We also spoke about event content as well the experience and virtual experience economy that we now live in and how events are changing and need to change to stay relevant.
